You will probably need to delete some filtire stitches that extend outside your outline. It's much easier on YOU if the outline and filtire stitches are 2 different colors. At least you'll know which stitches are filtire and which stitches are part of your outline. > What am I missing here? Don't resize the filtire. Just delete what you don't need. > What other fill stitches are there? I am really intrigued by this. All I > can think of right now is cross-stitches. Are there many others? > CREATING YOUR OWN CUSTIMIZED FILL STITCHES You create your own fill stitches. For example, say there is a particular built in stitch that you like really well and you would like to fill a compleat area with it. I usually create a whole screen but you can just create the approximate size "box" of fill you think you'll need. Always go a little larger than you think you'll need. The following directions are for filling the whole screen. If you are just wanting to create a "Box" of fill, just go as far as you want instead filling the whole screen. 01. Now bring that Stitch # up on your screen. While it is still highlighted, you can resize, rotate - whatever you want to make it more to your liking. If you want to delete a stitch or more from the built-in stitch you can do that also. Manipulate that stitch ANYWAY you want it. 02. Now comes the "Copy & Paste" part. Once you have that stitch exactly the way you want it, make sure it is highlighted. Remember, this is the only thing you have on your screen so if it isn't still highlighted, you can go to "Edit" and click on "Select all" or use the Control + M keys to re-highlight the stitches. 03. Copy: you can go to Edit and click on copy or you can use the Control + C keys. 04. De-highlight by pressing the "END" button. 05. Paste: You can go to Edit and click on paste or you can use Control + V keys. 06. Keep repeating step 5 until you have a whole row across the screen. 07. Next row: Select All to highlight the WHOLE row and COPY. 08. De-highlight by pressing END. 09. Paste. 10. The second row is sitting on top of the first row so while still highlighted, move it. Decision time: Do you want space between the 2 rows or not. That's your choice but move accordingly. 11. While still highlighted, go to "TOOLS" and click on "Flip Order". This should get rid of that looooong jump stitch you were worried about. Now, you have 2 rows going from left to right then right to left. You may have to do some manual tweaking between the last stitch of the first row and the first stitch of the 2nd row. It usually doesn't matter if a satin stitched outline will be covering the edges. But if you're not sure if it will show, tweak now. 12. Select all to highlight BOTH rows. 13. Copy. 14. De-highlight by pressing END. 15. Paste. 16. Move. --Don't forget -- the 2nd 2 rows are sitting on top of the first 2 rows. Move the same distance as you did between the 1st and 2nd row. If there was tweaking to be done at the end of step 11 there will also be tweaking needed between last stitch of first 2 rows and the first stitch of 2nd 2 rows. Do that now. You should now have 4 rows of your very own customized fill. If you plan to fill the whole screen or so, you can Select All and highlight the 4 rows. Press END and continue Pasting and ENDing until you've filled the screen. -- Or whatever. No more tweaking or flip order should be needed after the first 4 rows are completed. You can use this in the same way as the filtire or in creating your own unique applique fabric to use with your embroidery. Have Pfun!
